For those interested in learning about Nashville’s history and culture prior to its days of musical fame, a visit to the Belle Meade Plantation is a must. The plantation features a mansion that dates back to 1853, as well as exhibits on its history and role in the city’s development. Students can also take a walking tour of the city’s historic district, which is home to numerous landmarks and sites, including the Tennessee State Capitol and the Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson.
